Throughout the month of December, I’ll be writing a post a day for the fabulous project Reverb 12. It’s an opportunity to reflect on the year that’s wrapping up and using the fruits of that reflection to shape the year ahead – in other words, exactly the kind of thing I love to think about! So, without further ado, here’s today’s prompt.
Unexpected Passion: What new hobby or interest piqued your passion this year? Or did you think about an old passion in a new way?
Growing things. Growing food, more specifically. I’ve been enjoying turning our yard into an enormous vegetable plot, one raised ed at a time. It feels magnificent to shepherd plants from seed to table – time outdoors, hard physical work, DELICIOUSNESS…so many things to love about it.
I’ve rekindled my love of art/music/literature, too. I put it aside after a breakup several years ago, but have come to enjoy these things on my own terms and in my own way. I hadn’t realized how big a hole it was, but it sure is nice to be doing/reading/listening to those things again.
How about you? A new handlebar mustache? Putting a bird on it? Raising chickens? What’s been bringing you joy?
